access.see.be 0.8 released

You can now download access.see.be 0.8 in the download section. Because of some time issues in the past few months not all milestones of the announced version 0.9 could be realized, e.g. access.see.be does not use AJAX-Functionality right now. That´s why access.see.be 0.8 should be considered as pre-realse of version 0.9 – work goes on! We would appreciate your feedback.

Skywrite.me uses access.see.be

The Web 2.0 Startup Skywrite.me uses access.see.be for a beautified and more intuitive selection of countries and cities.

Never underestimate the importance of the WAI-ARIA role presentation

At first sight the WAI-ARIA role presentation looks common and not quite as useful as other roles in the group of User Interface Elements. It doesn´t represent a widget itself and doesn´t even have any states. During reimplementing some widgets the last week I figured out, why it is of great importance anyhow: Although not a widget itself, it makes it possible for other widgets, to behave like they should.

Roadmap to version 0.9

Release Date: To Be Announced

This version will feature corrections and optimizations based on the feedback that was obtained since release date of version 0.5. Also the source code will be completely overworked and some new widgets included.

Mission Statement

Today I posted access.see.be on Codetalks under “ARIA Resources”. In the list of “JavaScript toolkits” access.see.be stands next to great and established JavaScript-Libraries and Frameworks like Dojo, the Yahoo! User Interface Library or the Google Web Toolkit. Of course the main aim of a small toolkit like access.see.be cannot be to mess with these other libraries, but maybe to fill up a specific niche.
